Luminarias (after Wayne Hogan)
Luminarias line the path to the house
Of worship. Small ovals of light warm their way
Toward windows framing crosses that reflect
Variations of same on trees contained
Above roots that show weathering without
Evidence of wind. At either end of the building
Are panes of stained glass, their own little
Miracles to watch. The door is plain. The slant
Of the roof protects from rain or snow. For now
Only the sequence of light draws footfalls
To convene inside where prayer is meant
To occur in the safety of a warm voice
Peacefully proclaiming a form of order
In the song that is togethering.
