Whispered Respite

Someone is waiting for you at home
What makes it a home is that someone
Is waiting to hear your daylight spooled
Into an evening of shared opinions

Trees in the yard look tall together
Sprawling across the roof of your home
Alongside the rain the constant cleanse
And nothing can keep you safe enough

You want to face the fireplace and the window
Shut to keep the rain from trailing in
You cannot get enough of being indoors
On this night this cradled night the low light

Of your home where someone is waiting
Where you together can be alone
