Perforce Performance (after Wayne Hogan)

With no names of known combos chalked onto 

the board in the bar, Barbara's hyper-

active imagination drew her to 

three elegant men, two of them holding stringed

instruments she decided would supercharge 

all present and accounted for in the dark

watering hole. Barbara for her part had left

her glasses on the end table beside the couch 

in her living room so could not make out 

the faces of the men or their expressions well

but she could tell they knew their tunes and so 

she declared to her two friends, ever patient 

with Barbara, that these gents were on the thresh- 

of dazzling every eardrum in the room.
