You may recall better than I

When the uptalk at the close of a sentence 

Went live as a concession to all hearers 

As standard practice just in case 

One of those addressed demanded such

Self-effacing half singsong pacing 

Of the sounds versus assumed authority 

Of the speaker presumably

Undeserving of honor or praise 

Still paying dues to those secretly craving

Attention to the point of inhaling 

And keeping all the oxygen once

Free flowing through formed and emergent

Channels restricted to those always in need.
