Curse of the Unwanted

She was owly
but unwise

Her would-be flex, pressed
into a vise.

No norming of a morning.
No sunrise.

She chaperoned the world
that refused her,
resisted even her purse
as if to un-pave

the solid way through
a crowd of wallflowers
drying in flashes of heat
