Indoor Guru (After Wayne Hogan)

It is not necessary to bushwhack
your way through a grid-paged book in contrast
to a roughly bearded face beneath a taut
cap twirly looking coming to a point
as you sit perfectly still big-handedly
guiding your eyes toward the suspicion
There must be a snake here somewhere
to match an imagined out-of-doors
as you sweater through the world on the page
one stage at a time safe from reptilian
humanoids your vast mind likely invokes
thereby stoking the needed confidence
needling your otherwise calm selfhood with
a prompt to gussy up and protect the mood
